Ibiza's unspoilt beaches

Ibiza's secret & virgin beaches and coves to enjoy nature

Join us in today's article and we'll show you the secret beaches and coves of Ibiza that you won't want to miss when you come on holiday to our island.

The ones you will discover today are those that, due to their special location or access, do not have any services like the ones you could find in the family beaches of Ibiza (hammocks, parasols, bathing catwalks, beach bars, ...).

And that is precisely why they will surprise you! Save this list in your favorites and recover it when you need to disconnect from the day to day, or when you need to reconnect with nature, also enjoying a privileged environment.

Cala Llentrica (San José/Sant Josep)

Near the idyllic centre of Es Cubells (in San José), with its beautiful church and square, we can find a beach far from any hustle and bustle. This is Cala Llentrisca, an unspoilt cove with pebbles and barely 100 metres long and 10 metres wide.

The only presence of human beings you will find there are the typical "casa varadero" (boathouse) that were used in the past by local fishermen. You must bear in mind that access to Cala Llentrisca can be complicated, as you have to access the "Los parques" urbanization (the security guard will let you pass when you tell him you are going to the beach) and take a path from there that goes down to the beach.

Where is this?

Es Codolar (San José/Sant Josep)

The longest beach in Ibiza (about 3 kilometres long and 30 metres wide) and yet one of the least frequented by tourists. Es Codolar has a series of characteristics that make it unique and different from the rest of the island's beaches and coves.

To begin with, it is located in the heart of the Ses Salines Natural Park, combining pebbles on the shore and fine sand in the water, and it is common to see planes passing by when they arrive at Ibiza airport at an imposing distance. However, at the end of Es Codolar we will also find the way to Cap des Falcó (Cape of the Falcon), an incredible place to enjoy the sunset.

Where is this?

Es Portitxol (San Juan/Sant Joan)

We warn you that it is one of the most difficult coves to access, not suitable for all audiences. However, Es Portitxol (which can be translated as "El Puertecillo", "The Little Port") is one of the most idyllic and beautiful virgin beaches you can find in Ibiza.

The complicated and steep path that takes you to this secret cove in the north of Ibiza, on the other hand, is a marvel for the 5 senses if you like hiking and nature. So, yes: the effort is well worth it!

Es Portitxol is a magical place where the turquoise tones of the water and tranquillity are the main protagonists.

Where is this?

Es Canaret (San Juan/Sant Joan)

In the same municipality of San Juan is Es Canaret, a virgin cove in Ibiza that is very little known and frequented. Part of this lack of knowledge is due to the fact that it is accessed through a private property, which is not without controversy, having tried to close the public path on several occasions (illegally).

Nowadays, however, reaching this virgin cove on Ibiza is relatively easy. Before reaching Cala Xarraca and after taking a detour towards Es Caló de s'Illa, you will find the signs for the path, through which you can pass without any problems to enjoy the wonderful surroundings.

It should be noted that the environment of Es Canaret was affected by a fire that devastated the area of Benirrás, so you can still observe the consequences of the fire and, fortunately, how nature recovers its land, little by little but firmly.

Where is this?

Ses Balandres (San Antonio/Sant Antoni)

To end this list of virgin beaches and coves of Ibiza we have chosen a really special one: Ses Balandres. Why is it so special? If we tell you that to reach it you must use a rope, descending a wall almost vertical, you can start to get an idea...

There are no signs either, and the path before the descent is only suitable if you are in good shape and well equipped. And as if this were not enough, it is barely 10 meters wide.

So, is it worth it? Very! Ses Balandres is one of those environments you won't find anywhere else in the world and only the journey itself is extremely exciting. If you can relax away from civilization or dive into one of the richest and most beautiful sea beds on the island when you arrive at your destination, there is little else to add...
